Kada pokrenem Slax 6.1.0
bez nVidia 180.22 drivers modul-a
on se boot-uje normalno.

Na kraju sam vratio 6.09
na USB flash
sa njim mi svi moduli rade normalno.

P.S.

xara-lx-0-7-1692.lzm
adobereader-8.1.2-i486-1sl.lzm
firefox-3.0.7.lzm
gparted-0-4-3-all.lzm
mplayer-1.0.lzm (ne radi isparvno sa 6.1.0)
ms-ttf-corefonts.lzm
nerolinux-3.5.2.3-x86.lzm
nvidia-driver-180.22-for-2.6.27.8.lzm (ne radi sa 6.1.0)
opera-10-00-4214-gcc4-qt3.lzm
peazip-2-5-0.lzm
picasa.lzm
trash-on-desktop-0.2.lzm
wine-1.1.18-i486-mt.lzm
...

PS

Tomas M:
Thanks to many suggestions,
I fixed several things in the kernel config regarding IWLWIFI, PCI_MSI,
and I also decided to compile several drivers as module
(instead of building them into kernel directly)...

These changes will be visible in Slax 6.1.1

Slax 6.1.1 is out

The amazing and unbeatable Slax 6.1.1 is released. You can rest assured that there will be no more new version during the following two days :) I'll be mostly offline, attending the Linux Expo conference in Czech.

What's new in 6.1.1? The most important change is related to IDE_GENERIC driver. In all the previous versions of Slax, it has been compiled directly in kernel, causing it to overlap specific drivers for particular hardware. Due to that fact, you could notice that your SATA devices appeared as IDE (PATA) ones (on some hardware).

That would be no problem at all, but what made me really unhappy was the inability to use hdparm and set such devices to support ultraDMA, so the disk drives were terribly slow. This problem is now gone, all SATA disks should be now seen as SATA with full speed.

I noticed the problem when I tried to install Slax on Asus Eee Box; if you don't know this incredible piece of hardware, I suggest you to review it, it's simply beautiful. If you're from Czech, come to LinuxExpo tomorrow, I'll have two pieces there so you can touch it :)

\slax\etc\x11\xorg.conf

Potom sam iskopirao modul "nvidia-driver-180.22-for-2.6.27.8.lzm" u folder na USB: \slax\modules

Restartovao sistem i butovao sa USB-a SLAX i sve je proradilo...
:)

PS
Novija verzija, koja se pominje na SLAX forumu "nVIDIA-Accelerated-Graphics-Display-Driver-x86-180.44_IA32-slax-6.1.1-kernel-2.6.27.8" se ne instalira kompletno i za sada nije upotrebljiva (istina bar ne blokira sistem, ali ni ne radi)

slax: modules: drivers

PS

I've released a new Slax without even trying to boot it. And it was simply broken. I'm sorry. I promise I will not do that again.

I just fixed the problem and re-uploaded the ISO and TAR files. Please wait a hour for the mirror to actually catch the new files and then download again.

md5sums are following:

slax-6.2.0.iso - 51b4163e5d851bc980aad92b77ebdec5
slax-6.2.0.tar - 09af835eebfa36750441f22b1f386015

This time it's tested to boot properly.

Slax 6.2.0 with PAE
written by Tomas M. 1 day ago

Just a while ago I uploaded Slax 6.2.0 to FTP. It should be now accessible from official mirror, so grab your ISO or TAR format now! :)

What's different? As I mentioned in one of the previous posts, PAE has been enabled to support up to 64GB of RAM. This brings a huge incompatibility with older computers and Slax 6.2 will no longer boot on i486 machines.

This release is not even tested (I didn't even bother to try to boot it), so I welcome all your possible feedback in the comments, at least please tell me if this Slax doesn't work at all :)

Thank you all for using Slax.

Napomena:

"he source of "640kb ought to be enough for anybody." may have actually been "No one will need more than 637 kb of memory for a personal computer." and it may have been said in the early 1970s"

ili ovoga

"What about "DOS addresses only 1 Megabyte of RAM because we cannot imagine any applications needing more." - is it sourced?"
