It ain't easy running a web app with over 50 million users, but we do it anyway. We're a lean team of engineers that operates one of the largest RoR applications, use agile methodologies, and rely on data to test and iterate quickly.
YOU ARE
A software engineer who loves data or a database professional who loves to code.
A detail-oriented self-starter, with great passion around execution and providing awesome solutions and products.
YOU WILL
Work with other members of the team to figure out the best way to gather, store and analyze our data.
Build systems to efficiently answer business questions.
Design and implement a scalable data warehouse using ETL and/or MapReduce technologies.
Develop infrastructure to inform on key metrics, recommend changes, and predict future results.
YOU HAVE
At least 2 years experience writing production-level code. Experience with Ruby is a plus.
Very strong SQL skills. Experience with Hive is a plus.
Expertise with visualization, data mining, or statistical tools. Experience with R is a plus.
Fundamental knowledge of data structures and programming practices.
Solid experience with large-scale, distributed systems design and development with a strong understanding of scaling and performance.
Experience with Map Reduce or other parallel programming techniques is a big plus.
High degree of proficiency in Linux systems administration.
Expert understanding of ETL techniques and best practices to handle extremely large volume of data.
