MacWorld EXPO 09.01.2007.

Otvaram ovu temu kako bi u njoj raspravljali i pratili keynote sa MacWorld Expoa u San Francisku koji počinje za pet dana. Keynote počinje u 9 ujutru po pacifičkom vremenu što mu dođe, jer je vremenska razlika devet sati, u 18 popodne po našem vremenu. Na Appleovom sajtu još nema linka za eventualni live stream, sudeći po nekoliko prethodnih prilika, verovatno neće biti live streama, već samo "odloženog" prenosa.

Zato bih vas sve zamolio da komentare na nove proizvode koji će sigurno biti najavljeni ostavljate u ovoj temi i da ne pravimo dve ili tri teme kao prošlog puta. Izuzetak je ukoliko Džobs najavi iPhone ili već kako će da se zove eventualni mobilni telefon koji bi Apple počeo da proizvodi, jer za njega već imamo temu http://www.elitesecurity.org/t...ne-dolazi-ili-neki-drugi-naziv, pa iskoristite nju za raspravu o tome.

With Google Chairman Eric Schmidt sitting on Apple Computer's board of directors, people have been expecting the two companies to do some kind of deal that will combine the best of both companies' technologies," W. David Gardner writes for TechWeb.

"That may happen next week when Apple's Steve Jobs takes the stage at Macworld in San Francisco on Tuesday. Jobs is expected to reveal more about the video playing device he tentatively has called the iTV," Gardner writes.

Gardner writes, "Google watcher Steve Arnold says Jobs is likely to announce that Apple will use Google's video search capability. 'Apple needs to cut a deal with someone to find and distribute videos,' said Arnold, who is managing director of information technology consultancy Arnold IT. 'There's this huge Internet video flood that's been unleashed. But you can't find anything.'"

"The first hint may come on Monday when Disney chief executive Robert Iger gives a keynote address at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, which may set up Jobs' Macworld presentation. It's a foregone conclusion that Iger will unveil Disney's upgraded Web site along with links to Apple technology. Jobs is Disney's largest investor thanks to Disney's acquisition of his Pixar Animation Studios," Gardner writes.

Gardner writes, "Apple introduced the iTV last September along with a deal with Disney that enables users to purchase Disney movies from Apple's iTunes Store. While the service has been widely hailed as visionary, it's still painfully slow. This is where Google comes in, according to Arnold, who believes Apple will tap onto Google's powerful IT and network infrastructure sooner or later to deliver content."

Apple and HP are both poised to introduce notebooks in 2007 that use LED-backlit LCDs, according to new rumors. Taiwanese newspaper DigiTimes reports that the two computer makers are expected to launch these notebooks in the second quarter of the year.

LED-backlit displays have slowly been making their way into consumer electronics lately, with Samsung leading the way with some of their LED HDTVs—the company has also claimed that all of their LCDs will be LED-based by 2008. However, LED-backlit displays have been criticized for their high power consumption (and often higher cost), therefore making them less suitable for portable use.

Despite this, companies like Apple and HP could be interested in promoting their notebooks as multimedia machines as well as portable workstations. If so, they would likely benefit from LED displays that offer better color reproduction and uniformity throughout the display, as well as improved contrast ratio and brightness uniformity. DigiTimes' sources claim that the HP notebook will run Windows Vista and "will aim at high-end, multimedia uses," but there are no details on the Apple notebook.

Fact or fiction? Apple has had a knack for introducing new technology to the consumer-level buyer in the past, so it wouldn't be shocking to see them launch an LED-based MacBook Pro sometime in the near future. The long-anticipated $100 laptop is also expected to make use of a dual-mode display that will be LED-based, so perhaps it may not be long before notebooks with LED displays make it into the hands of consumers.

Doduše, za mene nove verzije ova dva paketa ne bi bile iznenađenje. Mada, prijatno iznanađenje bi bilo da u iWork uleti Cell ili već kako se šuškalo da se zove spreadsheet aplikacija. B)

Solution hardware manufacturer Axiotron, Inc. and technology solutions provider Other World Computing (OWC) today announced that they will be unveiling the ModBook, the first ever Mac tablet computer solution, on January 9th, at the Macworld Conference & Expo in San Francisco. After an invitation-only press showcase, the Axiotron ModBook will be unveiled to the general public at 2:30 PM at the Other World Computing Booth #S2218.

The ModBook was designed in California by Axiotron’s team of German and American engineers and will be available in the U.S. through an exclusive joint-venture arrangement between Axiotron and Other World Computing. Following a demonstration by Axiotron engineers and OWC product specialists, consumers will be able to experience hands-on trials of the Axiotron ModBook at the Other World Computing Macworld booth.

The Axiotron ModBook features WACOM Penabled hardware for true pen input and is fully compatible with Apple's Inkwell, a Mac OS X Tiger feature that provides system level handwriting and gesture recognition to all Mac applications. Drawing and writing directly on the screen provides for a uniquely intuitive user experience and its slim, slate-style form factor makes the ModBook the ultimate companion for mobile users, artists, professionals and students.

The ModBook is also the only portable Mac solution that features an optional built-in Global Positioning System (GPS). The Axiotron ModBook GPS Module was developed in cooperation with GlobalSat Technologies Corporation utilizing the industry leading SiRFstar III chipset for shorter first location fix times and improved tracking capabilities.

Designed by Axiotron, the ModBook will be available in the US exclusively through Other World Computing.

"SanDisk wants to replace the hard drive in notebooks with flash memory, a swap that it says will make thin laptops faster and more reliable," Michael Kanellos reports for CNET News.

"The switch, however, will cost you a few hundred dollars more," Kanellos reports.

Kanellos reports, "SanDisk on Thursday in the US released a 32GB drive for commercial notebooks that stores information on flash memory chips rather than the magnetic platters that make up a traditional hard drive. The drive is available only to manufacturers, and the company declined to give out pricing or identify any notebook makers that will adopt it, but SanDisk said notebooks sporting the drive could come out in the first half of 2007."

Kanellos reports, "Unlike traditional hard drives, flash memory drives do not contain moving parts. As a result, flash devices are less prone to breaking down -- flash cards can survive drops from great heights -- and consume less energy. SanDisk's flash drive can increase battery life by about 10 percent, said Doreet Oren, director of product marketing for SanDisk. Flash also can retrieve data faster."

"SanDisk packaged the drive into a 1.8-inch package, mostly to make it easier for notebook makers to adopt it. The package can be shrunk (to reduce the overall size of the notebook) or increased," Kanellos reports. "The drive will also add about US$600 to the cost of a notebook."

danima zaboravaljam da postujem sta mi je prijatelj rekao koji je bio u beogradu za novogodisnje praznike.
covek radi u nemackoj i bavi se apple opremom.
bio je na zatvorenom apple dvodnevnom pregledu novih tehnologija.
kaze da je ono sto je prikazano za leoparda stvarno opasno tj, da ce novi os doneti ogroman broj novina.
ne mogu reci da su prikazali nesto sto nismo mogli u trac rubrikama za mac-a vec da cujemo ali su ulazili u detalje i kaze da vrlo dobro u praksi izgleda.
druga stvar koja je po meni mnogo interesatnija a o kojoj se nije bas moglo citati je novi laptop koji je klasa za sebe.
u pitanju je extremno tanak laptop. pretpostavljam da je iz klase macbook pro ili druge podklase koja ce izaci.
po meni ako se odluce sa flash based uredjaj 40gb je donji limit da eventualno bude prihvatljiv mada bih ja voleo da vidim
nove toshiba 1.8" hdd zbog kapaciteta. takodje ako ne bude imao opticki uredjaj integrisan za mene bi takodje otpao kao opcija.
da li ce biti objavljen na macworld je pitanje ali prolece definitivno izgleda kao pravi period za kupovinu intel makine.
sazrela tehnologija tranzicija gotova rev a revb prica gotova a leopard izlazi.
sta vi mislite?
sacekati leopard i kupiti masinu sa njim.

E taj je, oni sada postavljaju čak i slike. Za sada ništa bitno, ali pročitah da je Džobsova porodica u sali.

This is a day I've been looking forward to for 2.5 years. Every once in a while a product comes along to change the industry. Apple has been fortunate to introduce a few of these: the Mac in 1984; the iPod in 2001 (changed the way we listen to music and the entire industry). Apple will introduce 3 revolutionary products of this class. Wide-screen iPod with touch controls. The second is a mobile phone. The third is break-through internet communication device.

Ja bih, ipak, najviše voleo speed bump, MacBook-alike tastaturu i magnetni "poklopac", sve to za MBP, ovo ostalo mi je manje zanimljivo.

I spreadsheet kao deo iWorks-a, naravno.
