Company offices are based in Vienna and London, but we are switching to a remote-first approach to working. We have been operating remotely since the pandemic started, but we do offer office space as well. We would prefer candidates from Vienna and London, but it is also fine if you live somewhere nearby and are ok with periodic visits to the office in Vienna for team events, meetups or conferences.
Purpose:
Your main contribution will be helping the team discover, design and implement solutions that help our users have a world class experience on our e-commerce marketplace that operates within the circular economy.
Team:
You will be working in a cross-functional team formed of frontend, backend engineers, a designer - all led by a product manager.
The team works in a collaborative way in order to achieve the best possible results. The engineers’ experience ranges from medium to senior - all being more than happy to share knowledge and help each other.
What you will do:
Together with your team, you will write code that is used by millions of users
Work in an agile environment and collaborate with your team members to deliver new features our users love
You will regularly evaluate and test new and emerging technologies to ensure the faster implementation of features
Work on bug fixing and improving the web application performance
Work within a supportive, mixed experience team with opportunities to learn and mentor
In every task, you have the possibility to bring in your own ideas and thereby shape the future of Shpock
Develop other modern and user-friendly websites (main Shpock website and related sub-sites)
Who are we looking for?
You dream in HTML, CSS & JavaScript 🦄
You are a proactive self-starter
3+ years of professional experience working in web development
Experience with Next.js or willing to learn this part of our tech stack
Experience with TypeScript, GraphQL, GitHub Actions are nice-to-have
Experience working with React and Node.js 💣 💥
We love writing tests. We hope you do too!
You are comfortable with consuming REST APIs 🍽
You keep up to date with cutting-edge trends in web application development
You have good written and spoken English skills
You are curious and willing to understand how things work 🔨
You’re not afraid of learning new technologies or adjusting to new circumstances, environments or ways of working
You understand the amazing benefits of sharing knowledge with your colleagues and you are actively doing so
You like to pair program, help debug your colleagues’ code & laugh at their PRs! 🤪
