Err... Procitaj ponovo sta sam napisao. Naravno da ce biti N edition za EU, ali ces u istim EU zemljama moci da kupis i verziju sa WMP-om. Dakle, moz' da biras koji ces. Ono sto Microsoft mora da uradi je da isporuci i N edition, a ti ne moras taj da kupis.

Bilo je dosta ljudi koji su i 3-4 godine nakon izlaska XP još uvek sretno koristili Win 98 i mislili da je to za njih ispravno... vremenom su ipak postali "izumrla vrsta".
Mislim da će vremenski period za "prirodno izumiranje" ovaj put biti znatno kraći, posebno imajući u vidu da je početak "atrofije" kod XP-a i zvanično dijagnostikovan pre skoro dva meseca...

Sa moje tacke gledista Vista je odradila deo posla da se pokrenu procesori sa dva i vise jezgra i "nove" graf karte dx 10 (neko je pomislio na xp x64??), nesto nalik odskocne daske.
Imam utisak da su vise "iziskivali" vistu proizvodjaci hardvera, nego isti softvera (naravno njihovo vreme tek dolazi).
Za ove dve godine jos se nije iskristalizovao softver x64, nesto oce a nesto nece, sam flash za web npr. sto je banalno (bar za mene).
Mislim da sa w7 pocinje era razvojnog softvera (office 7, ps 7 ...), a vista je bila tu da proizvodjaci hardvera uhvate vazduh za nove pobede, cisto da se popuni neka praznina.
Sesti macici se u vodu bacaju ;).

Nikad čuo za ovakvu poslovicu, znam samo za prve mačiće...

Deo tvog komentara je ujedno i objašnjenje masovnog nezadovoljstva Vistom, jer većina ljudi ne shvata da je osnovni preduslov za udoban rad sa Vistom novi hardver. U nekim zemljama se nov operativni sistem isključivo i nabavlja uz nov računar, a što kod nas gotovo po pravilu nije slučaj. Ako uz to dodamo da je i "učenje novog najteži pos'o na svetu" onda bi time zaokružili celu priču...

Vistu koristim od 20.03.2007 i naravno da sam je instalirao na staru mašinu... posle sam samo dodao još 1GB memorije i još jedan SATA HDD... sve po uobičajenom receptu...

Ljudi, jel neko cuo za nov programski jezik, F#, navodno se on koristi u pisanju Windowsa 7 i, sasvim ovo sada pouzdano govorim, Office 14 i Office 15 paketa. Word 15 Elite, hehe, za dve godine.

Nope, ne koristi se. Mozda ga iskoriste negde, za pisanje neke aplikacijice, ali za OS - jok. A to "pouzdano" bi mogao da podkrepis malo nekim argumentima/izvorima/its.

Pa zvanicnih izvora nema, kako bi ih i bilo kada Microsoft to krije, ali moj drug koji zivi i radi u Barceloni, za Microsoft, mi je to rekao. Ali nece da otkrije detalje,nije lud naravno.

Dakle,cilj Microsofta je da u potpunosti paralelizuje Office paket,sto je izvodljivo tek u Office 15 paketu,a Office 14 se, izgleda,radi manje-vise na standardan nacin, dok Office 15 se pise u F# programskom jeziku.

"Windows 7" je i zvanično naziv budućeg OS-a

Sudeći po kratkoj informaciji na sajtu Windows Vista Team Blog, datoj u članku sa naslovom "Introducing Windows 7", Microsoft je i zvanično svoj novi OS krstio kao "Windows 7", samo par nedelja pre zvaničnog predstavljanja prve preliminarne verzije.

And, as you probably know, since we began development of the next version of the Windows client operating system we have been referring to it by a codename, "Windows 7." But now is a good time to announce that we've decided to officially call the next version of Windows, "Windows 7."

While I know there have been a few cases at Microsoft when the codename of a product was used for the final release, I am pretty sure that this is a first for Windows. You might wonder about the decision.

The decision to use the name Windows 7 is about simplicity. Over the years, we have taken different approaches to naming Windows. We've used version numbers like Windows 3.11, or dates like Windows 98, or "aspirational" monikers like Windows XP or Windows Vista. And since we do not ship new versions of Windows every year, using a date did not make sense. Likewise, coming up with an all-new "aspirational" name does not do justice to what we are trying to achieve, which is to stay firmly rooted in our aspirations for Windows Vista, while evolving and refining the substantial investments in platform technology in Windows Vista into the next generation of Windows.

Simply put, this is the seventh release of Windows, so therefore "Windows 7" just makes sense.

We are very excited about the opportunity to tell you more about Windows 7 in the coming weeks, and show you how we have continued to build on investments begun in Windows Vista to deliver on the next release of the Windows operating system.

Pa izgleda da tu i nisu bas svi raspolozeni da se zove WINDOWS 7 mozda bi ga mi bolje krstili .

Koliko vidim F# ce biti deo .NET platforme, i kako takav treba mu ista da bi radio, tako da ne znam kako bi mogao da se koristi za pravljenje OS. Uglavnom se koriste C/C++ i ranije za neke delove cak i Assembler, ne znam za danasnje moderne OS. Uglavnom za programiranje OS-a treba kod koji posle kompajliranja moze "direktno" da se izvrsava u procesoru.

U svom blogu Why 7?, Mike Nash, zvanični predstavnik Microsofta, objašnjava zašto je uzeto ime "Windows 7" za novi OS, koji će ipak i zvanično nositi oznaku verzije 6.1

I'll say up front, that there are many ways to count the releases of Windows and it's been both a trip down memory lane and quite amusing to read all the different theories about how we got to the number "7."

Anyway, the numbering we used is quite simple. The very first release of Windows was Windows 1.0, the second was Windows 2.0, the third Windows 3.0.

Here's where things get a little more complicated. Following Windows 3.0 was Windows NT which was code versioned as Windows 3.1. Then came Windows 95, which was code versioned as Windows 4.0. Then, Windows 98, 98 SE and Windows Millennium each shipped as 4.0.1998, 4.10.2222, and 4.90.3000, respectively. So we're counting all 9x versions as being 4.0.

Windows 2000 code was 5.0 and then we shipped Windows XP as 5.1, even though it was a major release we didn't' want to change code version numbers to maximize application compatibility.

That brings us to Windows Vista, which is 6.0. So we see Windows 7 as our next logical significant release and 7th in the family of Windows releases.

We learned a lot about using 5.1 for XP and how that helped developers with version checking for API compatibility. We also had the lesson reinforced when we applied the version number in the Windows Vista code as Windows 6.0-- that changing basic version numbers can cause application compatibility issues.

So we decided to ship the Windows 7 code as Windows 6.1 - which is what you will see in the actual version of the product in cmd.exe or computer properties.

There's been some fodder about whether using 6.1 in the code is an indicator of the relevance of Windows 7. It is not.

Windows 7 is a significant and evolutionary advancement of the client operating system. It is in every way a major effort in design, engineering and innovation. The only thing to read into the code versioning is that we are absolutely committed to making sure application compatibility is optimized for our customers.

Jel ovo pripremaju da puste test verziju za download ili je nesto drugo posredi ako moze neko malo da prevede.

Microsoft is opening up about Windows 7 and starting to look for people to beta test the new operating system, and if you qualify, you'll obtain a copy of Windows 7 for you to download, with your own license key.

Christina Storm of Microsoft has reminded people that are enthusiastic about Windows 7 that they can participate in the beta program too if they qualify. Similarly to participating in any beta testing program run by Microsoft, this is done through its connect.microsoft.com portal. There you can sign in with your Microsoft Passport account and once you answer a few questions, you'll be entered the selection for the Windows 7 beta testing program.

According to Christina, the Windows 7 beta program will start very soon, but since pre-beta versions will be handed out at PDC2008 conference, it is likely that the beta version will follow a few weeks after that, possibly as late as mid-December. On http://connect.microsoft.com/ , the beta tester application form is typically made available weeks before the beta product is available for download; if Windows 7 beta 1 is released in December, Microsoft will likely be accepting applications as early as November 1st.

In the past, Microsoft has given priority to beta testers that have been testing other Microsoft products in the past as well, and provided useful feedback on them. If you have participated in other beta testing programs through connect.microsoft.com, it's recommended that you use the same account to apply for the Windows 7 beta program as well.
