OSS is currently migrating network inventory data scattered across legacy network applications (CRR, ConfigDB, Excels etc.) into HPSA based inventory system in order to have a network resource and service inventory repository, providing a single and consolidate source for OSS target systems (FRL OVSA, post FRL inventory, Operations, Service desk, Fault management, etc.).
The data being migrated now will be maintained in the system till the time we have full-fledged inventory system as part of SMP Phase 2. The interim inventory would also be used as a prime source for SMP Phase 2 Inventory System.
In order to migrate this scattered data into HPSA based inventory, we need to develop a tool that could gather/discover data from network elements, process/transform it by applying different business rules, and then load incremental updates to HPSA Inventory so that it can be used for automated activations in industrialized manner.
Following are the main components of the tool:
a) Network resource discovery
Extract network resource data source file, parse, and expose unified network data
b) Transformation process (ETL).
Transformation of discovered data to staging DB; apply a set of identified and analyzed rule to associate raw network information into staging DB model Business record (Service and customer) association with network resources (including SIID, customer ID and location ID/reference)
c) Loading (ETL)
From staging database provide tool to load data to target system, initially on OVSA with Text format (CSV file) interface
Following is the scope of the development as per business requirements:
Phase 1:
• OVSA requirements (migrating all existing customer services and used resources) for:
o Mass suspend and resume activation.
o Modify/Delete existing customer service base
• Operation: All rollout existing resources
• Operation: New site rollout data loading
Next phases:
• Config Db and CRR database supported data migration (connectivity and location information)
• Data reconciliation (network and external data sources (OVSA, …)
• Additional target system: New Network inventory synchronization
• Synchronization with GIS system for all existing location
