Senior Software Engineer – Desktop Applications
The Company iPick TV is creating cutting edge mobile interactive video applications. Based in Beverly Hills, California, the company is setting up a development team in Belgrade, Serbia, and is looking for forward thinking software engineers who wish to play a role in the development of next generation mobile applications. Position Summary
The candidate will design, develop, and test cutting edge desktop applications from concept to completion using Java 2 Standard Edition (J2SE) and the Eclipse Plugin Development Environment (PDE). The candidate must be proficient with object oriented analysis, design and architectural patterns. The candidate must also be proficient in the J2SE libraries and tools as well as the Eclipse Plugin Development Environment (PDE) in order to develop Eclipse plugin desktop applications with minimal learning. The candidate should have strong attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple priorities under tight time constraints. Lastly, the candidate should be able to write clear technical design and specifications documents and solve technical problems that translate into solutions with clean and optimized code.
Responsibilities
* Design, implement, and test Eclipse plugin applications using J2SE and the Eclipse PDE.
* Perform code updates and maintain code quality.
* Write technical design and specifications documents in English.
* Identify project scope and time estimates.
* Interface and provide mentorship to other software engineers in order to resolve challenging technical issues.
Qualifications
* Proficiency in J2SE desktop application development is required.
* Proficiency with the Eclipse Plugin Development Environment (PDE) is required.
* In-depth knowledge of UML, and object oriented analysis, design and architectural patterns is required.
* Knowledge of the Eclipse Modeling Framework (EMF) or the Eclipse Graphical Editor Framework (GEF) would be a definite plus.
* Experience with source control, configuration management and build software, such as CVS and ANT is desired.
* Experience with unit testing, memory profilers, and benchmarking would be a plus.
* BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent degree.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced and dynamic working environment.
* Must have excellent written and oral English communication skills.
* Ability to work in collaborative environments.
