Error 777 - The connection attempt failed because the modem (or other connecting device) on the remote computer is out of order.
This problem is normally a modem problem not at the server side, but at the users’ side, meaning that the modem in the client’s pc is not working at all. This error cannot occur with Windows 95/98 or NT - only with Windows Me, 2000 or Xp.
This error can occur if you have installed your modem with an incorrect driver. To check this, you can try to check the modem diagnostics by going to the control panel, clicking on phone and modem options, going on the modems tab, clicking on your modem and then clicking on diagnostics. If you get an error, or just blank info, then that means that you have installed the wrong modem drivers. To fix this, reinstall the modem drivers, and see if it helps. If you still can’t connect, or get any more problems, it could be that the modem is out of order. In this case you will have to physically change the modem to a new one. In this case, it would be better to contact your personal pc technician for further help.
