BDSP Partnership is a dynamic international engineering consultancy specialising in the following fields:
• Environmental design and engineering of sustainable buildings and masterplans;
• Building installation design;
• Renewable energy integration;
• Building Information Modelling (BIM) and advanced 3-D modelling (e.g. ArchiCAD);
• Research and Development (including software development using cutting-edge technologies))
We have major offices in London and Belgrade and new offices in Lisbon (Portugal), Sao Paolo (Brazil) and Abu Dhabi (UAE).
BDSP (Yu) is looking for a software developer/engineer for a 3-4 months contract placed in its offices or freelance in Belgrade from April 2010 onwards.
Role
The individual concerned will work on:
Project 1:
Development of an innovative new web-deployed design and decision support tool/service for a new generation of low energy or green buildings involving energy, costs and embodied carbon modelling (multi-partner, international R&D project leading to future commercial software release)
Key responsibilities will include:
• Leading the development and maintenance of energy performance simulation modules;
• Collaborating on the design and development of the GUI and databases.
Skills
Technical:
• Java/Java EE and/or C++ Object Oriented coding and development skills. We are looking for people with around 1 - 2 years of commercial/academic experience since graduation (3 years or more of university education or equivalent experience with software systems);
• A strong Mathematical / Object Oriented interest is essential for this role - either a mathematical or Computer Science / Engineering related degree or an equivalent demonstrated passion for design and abstraction;
• You are as passionate about making code maintainable as you are about making it efficient in the places it matters;
• Good analytical and research skills.
• Knowledge of building physics and their thermal behaviour is an advantage, but not essential
Personal:
You will possess some or all of the following qualities:
• Positive approach to work;
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team;
• Concise clear written communication skills and excellent verbal communication ability;
• Foreign Language skills – including ability to communicate in English at a good level;
• Creative problem solver;
• Capable of adapting to change quickly and effectively;
• Able to quickly learn new technologies and methods;
• Ability to present work to partners at workshops;
• Willingness to travel abroad for short periods (days).
