The Man from Malware has struck again. Or has he?
http-equiv, the infamous researcher who reported the flaw in Windows XP SP2 Thursday has revealed another: The new vulnerability exposes a hole in the lockdown of Internet Explorer's My Computer security zone.
I guess the author delivered the attack in an MHT file because it wouldn't work in an HTML file, but I must admit that I can't get it to work as an MHT file either. I made some calls and I haven't found anyone else who has actually gotten it to work. I was excited about it but now I wonder how much there is there at all.
And it turns out that the first flaw is an older flaw found originally by Liu Die Yu. http-equiv did demonstrate, in his own terse and obscure way, that it worked on SP2 as well.
