The temporary fix for the battery issue is to disable “Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery” in your device manager and you will no longer receive the annoying message “consider replacing your battery”. The disadvantage is that you will no longer be able to see when you run out of battery. If you know from experience that the battery would normally last xx hours, then I would simply install a timer gadget and set up an alert every xx hours. To do that, I recommend the Windows 7 Countdown gadget.
