Konkretno, taj tvoj .asx fajl moze da se otvori sa Windows Media Player, ali rekao bih da je nekako zasticen. Navodno, da bi fajl mogao da se otvori, potreban je neki plugin. Za taj plug-in neophodna je licenca koja se navodno placa, a kad hoces da odes na taj sajt u potrazi za plug-in-om, nudi ti free p0rn membership. Nisam isao dalje.

Short for ASF Streaming Redirector file, a Windows Media container file. ASX is an XML redirector file for ASF. ASX files are metafiles, i.e., they provide information about ASF media files, including descriptions of multimedia content. When a browser links to an ASX file, the ASX file in turn links to an ASF file on a server.

An asx file is used to store information on servers and media files for streaming video and audio over the Internet. You could view an ASX file in a text editor to find out the name of the file and server address of the streaming content. ASX stands for Advanced Stream Redirector.

The Advanced Stream Redirector (ASX) format is a type of XML metafile designed to store a list of Windows Media files to play during a multimedia presentation.
It is used frequently on streaming video servers where multiple ASF files are to be played in succession. Both RTSP and MMS streaming protocols are supported, as well as HTTP.
ASX files have MIME type video/x-ms-asf (as do ASF files).

Goal: Create a simple ASX file to play Windows Media in the external Windows Media Player.

A simple, yet effective method of playing Windows Media, is to simply reference an ASF Stream Redirector file (ASX). An ASX file is an eXtensible Markup Language (XML) based text file which references a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) for a piece of media content. Simply put, an ASX file is a shortcut to Media Content.

An ASX file should always be used to reference media content for the standalone player for two main reasons:
Browsers other than Microsoft® Internet Explorer do not intrinsically understand the Microsoft Media Server (MMS) streaming protocol. As such, they cannot locate or obtain information about the Media File.
Without an ASX file, content cannot stream to the media player. When you click on a link in a browser, that file is downloaded to the browser's cache. When, however, you click on a reference to an ASX, the ASX (which is a very small download) gets downloaded into the cache, and then launches the helper application associated with the ASX MIME type (application/mplayer2 or video/x-ms-asf), which is the Windows Media Player. This, of course, saves download time and takes advantage of intelligent media serving technology.
