Key activities
• Specification and requirements management of new functionality in our software products, in co-operation with Product Management and/or Marketing
• Independently performs requirements analysis – translates user requirements/user cases to system requirements
• Independently performs system design – translate system requirements into system and component design
• Performs coding – translates designs into software code
• System and software design of individual components and interfaces
• Performs unit testing – verifies software components on functional, stability and performance level to design
• Performs assessments – reviews change requests for estimation on effort. Adopts high level approach towards implementation of the change, technical implications for the product or system
• Proposes requirements to improve system’s supportability & maintainability
• Performs maintenance – resolves software problems reported from the deployment of the product or systems by delivery of a software patch
• Documentation of new or changed functionality
• Ensure adherence to service level agreements with customers
• Root cause analysis based on the solved incidents and propose structural preventive improvements
• Research by building proof of concept and/or prototypes in the field of mobile telecommunications technology
Skills
Education
• Completed academic degree in Computer Science or similar technical discipline
Experience
• Minimum of 5 years of R&D experience in ICT

• Good social and communicative skills
• Languages: excellent English, both verbally as well as in writing
• Result oriented, analytical attitude
• Team player, yet able to work autonomously if required
• Drive to develop yourself in your profession
• Experienced in working with customers; available to travel as business requires

Technical
• Knowledge of and experience with traditional (required) and agile (optional) software engineering life cycles
• Knowledge of Software Configuration Management (e.g. Telelogic Synergy)
• Knowledge of coding standards

Operating Systems: Unix (Tru64), Linux (RHEL) and middleware (e,g. clustering)
Build tooling: e.g. gcc, make, configure, autoconf / automake
Programming languages: ANSI C (experience with pthreads required)

Networks: TCP/IP
