"Never seen an Xin1 card then? Nagravision's inventors, Kudelski SA, are proposing to supply a card which communicates to the irdeto embedded boxes as any other irdeto card does. But just like an Xin1 emu, these new, non-irdeto packets are tunnelled through the module & parsed as something other than Irdeto.
The new core CAS may be based on Nagra, may be not. It's certainly a new card, not directly compatable with the ROM2/3/4/7/10/11 revisions Kudelski have issued before, cos they've nicked the pirate's Xin1 techniques. But there's nothing different in the way it works compared to any other CAS's smartcard... returning dCWs for those channels for which there's a valid sub: the "actual decryption" will still be performed by CSA decoder logic on the receiver-side of the ISO7816 socket."
