Na mom računaru je Ubuntu Dapper i ne vidim nigde taj Linux DC++, a uključio sam sve moguće repozitorijume.

Idi na Add/Remove... Stikliraj da ti prikaze sve. I unsupported i commercial (mada DC++ nije komercijalni) i unesi DC++ ili dcpp, svejedno je.

Software for 3D/2D Artists, Designers, etc.

Intro:
I've been trying to do my small part in the Linux community by helping out as much as possible. In doing so I created this extensive list of software which are used by studios and freelancers. The list is intended to be for working professionals so I try to avoid listing to many hobby software and instead focus more on the highend.

Film/Broadcast/Game Design:
Highend software that is ported to Linux such as some of the ones mentioned below are typically supported by their developers only for use with Red Hat and Novell distributions though this shouldn't stop you from trying other RPM based distributions (ie: Mandriva Linux, etc). Don't be surprised to find some production studios working in a cross network with Linux, Windows and OSX.

Due to individual copyrights, support issues and time involved the method of converting proprietary software files so as to attempt to work on Debian based distributions (ie: Linspire, Xandros, etc) is typically not considered a viable option. When speaking to studios and artist's it's understandable considering tools such as Alien are still in the experimental stage so software developers will not support them at this time. So if you're serious about entering this field and intend to use highend software then I suggest using RPM based distribution offerings from developers such as Novell or Red Hat. Both developers mentioned have obtained LSB certification ( see http://www.linuxbase.org/ ).

Warning: Highend software such as Maya, XSI, Shake, etc that are ported to Linux is compiled for the x86 architecture only. Meaning you cannot run for example Shake ported to Linux on Yellow Dog Linux for PPC. If you are using Apple's PPC hardware you will need to find applications ported to OSX.

Graphic/Web Design:
Typically for web/graphic designers and illustrators the platform of choice is OSX due to Apple's dominance in that particular market. Though I've heard many good reports from designers that Macromedia software such as Flash MX and Dreamweaver MX do work on Wine. There are also other software ported to Linux for designers so freelancers and design studios can now consider Linux as a viable alternative to cut cost. You are also less restricted than production studios in that you have the choice of using either a RPM based or Debian based distribution.

Conclusion:
Choose the right tool for the job. No matter if it's software or hardware the entire pipeline should compliment the end user and projects. Also, ensure to check individual developer system requirements prior to purchase and/or installation.

Ako ti bas treba mozes ga i sam napraviti. Nije tesko, ali ces najverovatnije morati instalirati nekoliko dodatnih alata.

Ma nasao sam neki QTParted ali nece da se kompajlira jer mi kaze da nemam libuuid. Ja znam da imam to:

Sa crossover-pro-4.1-1.i386.rpm WhereIsIt 3.63 radi na Linuxu. (WhereIsIt je jedan od jačih razloga zašto se držim Windowsa - tim koji dobija ne treba menjati)

Moze li neko da napravi uputstvo kako se instalira dc++ za linux, ja realno ne znam ni sta je onaj cvs, niti sta mi treba da bih mogao da instaliram...imam slackware 11

Mada ja nisam uspeo po tom uputstvu da uradim ništa (iskreno, nisam se ni trudio) pa sam skinuo Linux DC++ sa http://linuxdcpp.berlios.de/articles.php?um=index i kompajlirao (falio mi je samo jedan paket kao zavisnost, ne sećam se tačno koji, ali javi će ti ./configure) i program radi bez problema. Ako ne uspeš javi se na PM!

Što se tiče alternative partition magicu, za korisnike Gnoma najbolji je GParted, mada sam primjetio da je ponekad sporiji od svojih tekstualnih rođaka. Mada, treba se učiti i radu u konzoli, pogotovu za editore (nano, vi), i za programe za particije (fdisk, cfdisk, parted), jer može da zatreba, ako se nešto zezne sa sistemom i sa particijama.

Što se tiče DC++, iskompajlirao sam 0.698 verziju, ali samo za x86 arhitekturu, i evo .deb paketa (.rpm možete dopiti iz .deb pomoću programa alien): http://rapidshare.com/files/31...1_0.0.1.cvs20061208-1_i386.deb

Inače, DC++ postoji u debian i ubuntu repozitorijumu, ali kao source, a ne binarni, i to zbog toga što je za njegovo kompajliranje potreban SCons, koji ne postoji na mašinama koje kompajliraju programe za repozitorijume. Da bi se mogao skinuti iz repozitorijuma, treba u sources.list dodati deb-src http://neki.link, i skidati ga pomoću apt-get source linuxdcpp (ispravite me ako sam negdje pogriješio, nisam koristio ubuntu već duže vremena). Kako se dalje iz source paketa pravi binary paket možete vidjeti u Ubuntu Packaging Guide na ubuntu sajtu.
