Sam Nurmi, founder of Loopia, the largest web hosting company in Sweden, came up with the idea of ipwalk.com in 1999. He figured that it would be possible to sort all domain names on the Internet based on their name servers, in order to determine growth and changes of domain names.
Ipwalk.com was developed by the Serbian development company Troxo. The initial specification was done by Sam Nurmi while Troxo managed research, requirement specification, design, development, implementation and deployment.
