SENIOR MAGENTO DEVELOPER

POSITION SUMMARY:

Design, code, test, debug and document software applications. Devise or modify procedures to solve complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time, and desired results. Develop web solutions and custom applications for our high-profile clients with rich media user experiences.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Develop and maintain Magento application solutions while providing expertise in software development lifecycle phases, from concept and design to testing.
• Participate in identifying and managing development-related risks on assigned projects
• Work with Development Lead and project leads in understanding business needs, defining technical issues, and proposing solutions
• Provide proactive technical counsel to project leads, to ensure accuracy and completeness of technical understanding and communication
• Analyze business and technical specifications/requirements and develop enterprise-level eCommerce solutions
• Lead the development of software architecture and design best practices and staying up to date with latest software architecture industry tools and practices
• Recommend a solution vision and a solution architecture for current and future projects
• Communicate architectural changes and articulate the trade-offs and rationale for the decision
• Maintain and grow personal and organizational real-time software platform architecture best practices including knowledge of real-time software development and modeling tools
• Provide technical leadership to project teams or outside partners
• Identify work tasks via work breakdown structure and provide estimates
• Ensure via code-reviews that developed code quality meets the standards/guidelines for development
• Support and help developers come up with the best technical solutions
• Provide recommendations to functional managers on ways to improve processes, systems, tools and role definitions based on program or project-specific experience
• Drive training standards for Magento developers through collaboration with functional managers
• Actively contribute or drive continuous improvements to development methodology and underlying processes
• Participate in interviewing of Magento developer candidates
• Conduct on-boarding and coaching of new Magento developers.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Proven delivery experience of multi-site Magento Enterprise projects from start to finish
• Several years experience with PHP, MySQL
• Several years real-world Magento development experience
• Knowledge of multi-tiered distributed software architecture, OOP/Design Patterns, Web Services, SQL, HTML, JavaScript, AJAX, XML/XSL, HTTP, CVS/SVN
• Knowledge of MySQL, PHP, Zend, WordPress, HTML/CSS, JavaSE, Java2EE
• Management/ tech lead experience
• Several years commercial experience with Magento projects
• Proven experience with the Magento APIs
• Unit testing/ Magento API testing experience
• Replication/ Failover/ Load-balanced environments
• Custom Magento module creation
• Zend framework
• Good understanding of Web analytics and SEO techniques
• Expertise in documenting technical solutions and architecture design

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Experience working in geographically distributed teams
• Must be an independent, self-motivated team player that is meticulous and methodical in creating solutions
• Ability to learn and adapt quickly in a dynamic environment
• Spoken and written English and preferably another foreign language.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/ IT or related field or 5 years of relevant experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience working in an Agile development environment
• Demonstrated broad problem solving skills
• Experience developing ecommerce solutions like Hybris or other frameworks like Intershop
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as exemplified by writing clear technical specifications, documentation of knowledge, and effective intra- and inter-group communications.
